The latest app crashes even before it opens. Love NR. I want to read it! Please fix ASAP!

When the app worked, it was great. One nit, it should be possible for long-time subscribers (i.e., loyal customers) to have free access to past issues that they have already paid for. (Ive been a subscriber since the mid-1980s.) The current non-functioning update is intolerable. This app gets 4 stars AFTER they fix the crash-upon-open bug. UPDATE Ok. So I deleted and reinstalled. That fixes the crash. But then I had to re-download all the issues I had already downloaded. Big waste of time. As promised, I upgraded the app to 4 stars, but if I have to re-download my data every time you folks come out with a new version, I may revise downward. And I still wish I had access to issues I already own as hardcopy. UPDATE Installed upgrade. Didnt have to re-download copy. You now have five stars from me. UPDATE Dec. 11, 2012 Here we go again. Upgrade crashes and I cant access anything. Update April 18, 2015 Crashing again. And I cant access issues I already own. And I cant open my new issue. Please, please fix.

I lost all my past issues. I used to be able to read them offline. Not anymore.

The app will go to text mode (no ads or pictures) if you tap the screen. Thats nice, but its too easy to trigger that. If you want to see the flow of the article, including accompanying graphs and side bars its too easy to trigger the text-only mode. Update 4/20/2015: I decided I couldnt take the lousy user interface anymore and canceled my subscription.

This app is soooo unworkable. As a subscriber to NR (hard copy) I want access to current issues on my IPad--so far, IMPOSSIBLE! (No problem w/my other mag. subs.). NR Customer Relations: Are you listening, or do you even care?

Love NR, have since I was an undergrad. Gave up on NROTD to go digital. Two major issues (no pun intended): 1. Have to be connected to go to text mode...not good. Lemme have the text Im paying for offline, please. 2. Much Bigger Problem: Suddenly, inexplicably stops working and goes to black screen. Only solution has been to completely delete app and reload. Not good if youre on a flight which I was both times so far that this has happened! Help, developers! Save my NR!

National Review is a must-read for thinking human beings whether they be conservatives or libertarians. But this app leaves a lot to be desired. My main complaint is that its too easy to go into the Text mode by inadvertently tapping the screen while reading. The only way to go into Text mode should be hitting the "Text" button. Right now, I find myself frequently switching between the modes without intending to.

This iPad app worked great, until I went offline on a flight. I was reading a story at the gate using wifi, boarded a flight and continued to read, when suddenly I realized the screen went black. I dont think I switched to text mode. After that it stayed black even with wifi. I finally deleted the shortcut and reloaded it, which seemed to fix the problem. Just dont plan on using it offline though!
